Newborn Photography in Kansas City

Oh, the joy of a new baby boy! This nearly 10 pounder didn't want to sleep.
He was in on all the action and has plenty of personality already.

He's a lucky boy to have such laid back parents.
There are few things in life as stressful as bringing your newborn home from the hospital,
but this couple has it figured out. Sometimes there's nothing you can do,
but be there for each other. Because let's face it, it isn't easy being little.
He may not be a super napper, yet, but the swaddle knocks them out every time!

This big guy has a custom bedroom.
His fraternal grandma made him this one-of-a-kind quilt. It is amazing.
A labor of love from a very talented lady.
His Mama made the birdie mobile and sunshine wall art.
Even the window treatments are a handmade gift from a friend.
I adore all the handmade with love details.

I should give Dad some credit too,
because he did have something to do with the makings of this little angel,
even if he didn't knit any blankets.

Maternity Photography, Kansas City Metro Area

Maternity portraits for soon-to-be first time parents are one of my favorites.
Especially couples as cute as this couple!
They are so in love with each other, with the idea of their expanding family,
with the perfect little creature they haven't met yet.
It reminds me of that Christmas commercial where the parents give their
young children a trip to Disney world.

Their joy is overflowing and contagious. Life is simple. Quiet. Calm.
At least to me, a mother of 3 little girls, any uninterrupted adult time or conversation
lasting more than 3 minutes seems that way.
The calm before the storm.
When your prince arrives, along comes a storm of emotions and excitement.
The type of unconditional love that you didn't even know existed until that very moment.

Next thing you know, the hospital is going to let you take that
precious perfect baby you two created home. In fact, they are kicking you out.
Without an instruction manual.
And when that happens, you call me, because I can't wait to meet your precious

little boy and give him snuggles and take his newborn photos.

Pregnancy looks great on you. You've got the glow.
Good luck on the rest of this journey and I can't wait to hear from you when he arrives.

Breast Cancer Awareness

It isn't just about 1 month out of the year... it's about every day, for every woman,
for every fighter, survivor, and family or friend of a breast cancer warrior.

I'm am humbled each and every time I meet one of these woman and hear their
unique story of strength, courage and bravery!

Here are 2 of the women that will be featured in the 2013 calendar.

Meet Malinda.
She's bold. She's bald. She's beautiful. Her smile is contagious.
She's got a lot of spunk, and she's not letting cancer hold her down!

I'm so proud to be a part of a Breast Cancer Awareness project at
Saint Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
I take photos of some amazing woman. These pictures are put into a fundraising calendar.
Each month features a local woman, tells her personal story, and has some shocking facts
about the deadly disease. The calendar raises money for the Women's Center located at the hospital.
We are hoping to create a place where woman can get accessories, such as wigs and scarves,
get support and learn how to take good care of themselves while fighting for their beautiful lives.

Meet Tobi.
She's rural. She's an activist. Her teenage daugter is too. She's a biker.
She's a beloved teacher, wife and mother of two.
Her students raised money and bought her a wig when she was going through chemo.
They understood when she was too hot to wear it during the warm months of summer.

Thanks to these lovely ladies for being brave enough to tell your story
and share you fight! I'm so proud of you.

Sweet Miss Norah

Today I got to spend my afternoon with this little sweetie!

I really do have the best job, and the best clients in the world!
This couple likes to spend time together hunting and fishing,
and wanted to incorporate that into their newborn baby girl's photos.
Now this is a rack even I'd hang on the wall :)

This little chicky is already 5 weeks old, but she rocked this photo shoot like a
sleepy newby newborn. You might have a super model in the making.

She even gave Dad a big smile, right on que, when he started talking about the golf tour.

What a fun afternoon! Thanks for spending it with me and giving me lots to smile about :)

Life's a changing...

This next phase of life is proving to be an exciting and interesting time for our family. With the arrival of our newest baby girl #3 in February, selling our midtown home of 20+ years in March, deciding to build our dream home in April, and temporarily moving into my parents house in May, I'm a little behind on my photography blog. But, don't be fooled, my camera's been clicking and capturing lots of little lives and love this spring. I hope to share some recent images soon. So, for now, I'm working on-location. That means I'd still love to take your photos, but not in a studio. Instead we can meet at any place you'd like. Urban settings, local parks, in the bottoms, downtown, your own backyard or favorite family hang out. Contact me to discuss options and set up the perfect session for you!
