This 2 year old big girl is so sassy. She's a little princess with
a stylish wardrobe. I wish I had her matching coat and boots, and looked a fraction
as cute! Mom and Dad sure love their snuggle bug! But who could resist?

She's full of giggles and squeals and a few screams. Hey, at least she knows what she wants,
and that's a good thing, right? Most 2 year olds have one thing in common.
They want to do everything by themselves, but only when it's their idea.

She's also a great little poser, especially when there's a sucker involved ;)

We had so much fun playing outside. I hope you got a good nap in, sleeping beauty.
I know I needed one :)

This little princess was a little shy, but knew all the right moves!

Dad had some moves of his own too, as he gladly ran back and forth behind me singing
his version of a scary Itsy Bitsy Spider, and playing peek-a-boo with his baby girl.
I love parents that are willing to act silly in front of a complete
stranger all for the glory of the grin of their little girl!

I'm thrilled to finally have a chance to meet this adorable family.
We've been rained out and heat advisory rescheduled several times this summer...
and this day turned out the be the most beautiful day we've had in months!

The combination of a super cute kiddo mastering her walking skills, and some super fun
parents, this photographer couldn't ask for more!

It's always wonderful seeing clients again! My favorite is from newborn session to a first birthday photo!
I love chatting with parents to see how the adventures of parenthood is treating them,

Sleepy Newborn Baby Boy

This little boy is so sweet and sleepy, you can tell he's the third of three boys.
He slept through all the chatter between Mama, Grandma and myself.
He's used to lots of commotion and smothering hugs and kisses.

I just love this family. They make such pretty baby boys!
Ages newborn, 1 & 2 years, this Mama and Dad are super busy.
It was fun to spend some slow time with just the littlest addition
without chasing big brothers.

Oh, such sweet sleepy smiles... what is this little one dreaming of?
I'd love to know.

At 2 weeks old, he wasn't very bendy, so I didn't think this basket shot would work,
but Mama really wanted to try. I was thrilled she loved the set-up and
even more thrilled that he actually slept through the basket stuffing :)

I'm looking forward to the fall session outdoors chasing all 3 of your
boys around in the leaves. Take care, and enjoy all the snuggles before this

This sweet little girl is going to be a big sister in the fall.

Yep, 1 year old. Well 1.5, but that's tough to do with fingers :)

She's a girlie girl and into accessories and furniture.
She loved this little wooden chair I have. She sat in it, pushed it, and
carried it all over the studio room.

WILL WORK FOR FOOD!
Specifically, Nutter butter peanut butter cookies.

Big brother has a new love in his life <3
He is very interested in his baby sister and needed to know exactly what
I was doing with his princess. He stuck around and supervised me until
she was safely positioned snug as a bug for her portraits.

Oh the sweet smiles of a newborn...
I have often pondered what they might be dreaming of...
mommy's sweet milk, daddy's booming voice, or perhaps they come into this world
knowing far more than we will ever know about the journey that lies ahead.

This family is such a joy to photograph.
They truly are beautiful people from the inside out,
and they sure make beautiful babies!

At 10 pounds 6 ounces, he's the biggest newborn I've had the pleasure cuddling.

One of my favorites things about being a photographer is repeat clients.
I have the best clients, and love seeing their kiddos grow, change, hit milestones,
and find their individual personalities. I also love seeing the parents each session
and chatting about all the challenges and changes parenthood brings.
It's a precious secret society, and once your a member, you have an instant connection
with other parents that is unsaid but understood.

These little darlings have mastered crawling since I saw them last...
and they gave all three of us a chase for Mom and Dad's money.

Awww, the first few teeth make for such sweet, sweet smiles!

A sibling is something that can never be lost and brings you happiness for a lifetime.

I love meeting new clients, especially when they are as sweet and adorable
as this bunch!

Mom and Dad are both 3rd grade teachers... it really shows in how patient and gentle
they are with their kiddos. Little Miss A took a bit to warm up, just like my 4 year old.
I felt right at home, and so did she when we let Barbie hide in the back for pictures.

Little man has so much baby love chub, I just want to eat him up...
This is one of my favorite ages. 6 months old. Smiles are cheap, drool is free
and they can't get away from me (yet). Adorable!

Gorgeous grins! Holy baby fever... this one had me at, "Hello, look at
that head of full hair!"

First time parents are such a joy to work with... we all Ewww, and Ahhhhh, and swoon
together. Not that I don't love any newborn babies, but once their are other children,
there is rarely silence to just watch and observe their perfection.

3 generations. Need I say more?

This bonnet is a gift from Nana. The precious part is it's not just a bonnet.
It came with this touching poem. So, get your hankie out, sniff, sniff.

I am just a little hankie, as square as can be;
but with a stitch or two, they've made a bonnet out of me.
I'll be worn home from the hospital, and on special days,
and then I'll be carefully pressed and neatly packed away.
Then on the Wedding, I have been told,
every well dressed Bride must have something old.
So what would be more fitting than to find Little Old Me,
a few stitches snipped and a Wedding Handkerchief
I Will Be!

I love this family! Mama and Daddy are so patient, loving and silly...
their princess is polite and playful... and their little man is sure to
be charming as well.

Yep, it's a boy. An unnamed boy.
Names are always a hot topic and Maternity sessions.
It's either decided since the first trimester (sometimes even pre-nuptules),
or won't be until the little stinker arrives because Mom and Dad can't agree
or just can't narrow it down :)
In my family, we have one of each... so I love hearing the stories.

Sissy will be such a helper when he arrives. Maybe she should name him.

Sweet, sweet smiles from such a sleepy boy... I wonder what he's dreaming out...

He inherited his parents laid-back personalities, no doubt about that :)
I had a great time chatting with them during their maternity session,
and having a new baby in their house fills it with that much more love.

There are so many from this session I LOVE, but this is in the top 3 for sure!

I love incorporating props from client's homes, and this is a family antique
with a bundle of joy on top.

Oh my, this Mama has a beautiful baby bump!

Since my girls are so close in age, this adorable family reminds me of the
excitement of giving my own young child a sibling.
You try to explain to them that there's a baby inside Mama's tummy, but in the end
you don't know how much they truly understand.
One thing is for sure, they are about to gain the best friend, companion,
and partner in crime they will ever have, and you get to watch them fall in
love with each other.

With such a handsome big brother, I can't wait to see what this little princess looks like!

It's hard to believe how fast they grow...
but I'm reminded time and time again of that while doing a job I love!

This little lady is officially 3 pretty princess years old and is so sweet and sassy.
It took her a few minutes to warm up to me, but a quick twirl in her pretty
dress, and she was the star of the show.

The new little man passed the half-a-year mark already, and he's sitting up and crawling!
Mmmm, these gummy smiles make my heart happy and my face smile.

but this one pulls at my heart strings...

Somthing about the unconditional love and harrasement of siblings so close in age
makes me feel right at home :) Big Sissy was so sweet and gentle, even when
little Miss Independent didn't want any of her extra loving.

I can't believe this little man is already 2 years old!

It seems like last week I met this contagiously cute couple and their
six month old little boy... who has the best miniature wardrobe I'd ever seen.

And although it seems like just last week I fell in love with this family, I've had
the enormous joy of photographing them and their little man on several occasions.
Time with them is always fun, and full of lots of love and laughter.

His Mama always throws the most fabulous parties, with coordinating everything
your heart desires.

Nothing compares to the anticipation and excitement of almost first time
parents, and this couple was no exception.
Soon-to-be Mama has a wonderfully contagious laugh, and soon-to-be Daddy

It's been a while since I've had the opportunity to shoot a maternity session,

This blue eyed beauty didn't know what to think of me, Mom and Autie
being so silly to try and get her to smile... playing patty cake was a big hit!

She reminds me of my oldest toddler... very unsure of anyone not in her inner circle,
and she doesn't want Mommy out of arms reach.
She has the most beautiful blue eyes and the sweetest cheeks I've ever seen.
I just adore this baby face! I've had the great pleasure of photographing
her since she was only 3 months old and love watching her grow and change.

Mom kept apologizing for her timidness, but I found it to be adorable.
A characteristic trait that Mom will tell stories about when she's well
into adulthood, and perhaps tease her about the first time she expresses
her embarrassment about Mom dropping her off, or kissing her in public.

Embrace her tender heart, and enjoy it while it lasts! She's a real sweetie!

This Odd Fellows Home, built in 1900, is being renovated into a winery with soda shop and carriage rides.
Not just any winery, but a haunted winery. It's history is long and unique...
starting as an orphanage, and functioning as a school and hotel amongst other things,
this building is filled with character. A perfect place for a memorable birthday
party. What a lucky girl!

I'm so fortunate to have such wonderful clients. I've photographed this family
since baby girl was in her Mama's tummy, as a newborn, and every 3 months since.
Watching soon-to-be Mom and Dad anticipate the arrival of baby, and being there to
witness them fall in love those first days after she arrives are just a few of the

These smiles are reason #839 why I love my job!

This is the second time I've had the opportunity to photograph these little darlings!
The first time, baby boy was a newborn... I'm always amazed at how much they've
changed at 6 months. This is one of my favorite ages. The smiles come easy, but
they cannot escape my lens (just yet)!

Big sister is a beauty behind the lens too. I just love her curls!!!
Of course, one day, she'll probably spend lots of time on straightening her hair,

6 months old is one my favorite ages to photograph. They are sitting up,

I've had the pleasure of photographing these boys before...
but this was our first family shoot. I adore this family. They are so fun
and easy going, which is hard to maintain with two toddler boys. I can say
that having two toddler girls myself. I know how hectic it can be.

Mom and Dad keep each other grounded and this family truly functions as a team.
It's easy for Dads to be a little hands off, as the little ones tend to want
Mama most, but this dad doesn't let that happen. They're all about their Daddy too.

Missouri Town 1855 Wedding Photography

I loved everything about this wedding location in Missouri Town 1855.
This sweet couple wanted a simple yet casual ceremony that was just their style,
and after spending the afternoon with them and their families,
I understand how this location was perfect for them.

You never would know that it hailed on me on my drive there... and I was
nervous on how to pull it off in the rain. Thank goodness the sun peaked
out just a few minutes before the bride and girls arrived on location.

We had lots of fun and laughter wondering around the grounds. I attempted to soak
up all the photo opportunities I could as we quickly lost light after the ceremony.
I will definitely be going back! The trees are just starting to change and everything
was so beautiful and lush.

I love a family that is willing to try anything... especially if it involves
standing in a field, jumping in the air with heals, or getting your bouquet
eaten by random farm animals! What a day to remember... thanks for letting me be
a part of it. Congratulations!

When one of the most adorable and fun families I know asked me to photograph them
with the addition of an uncle, I knew it would be a good time.

This is my 5th session with this sweet and sassy girl, and
it's always a joy to see her. She is one of the happiest little
girls I know. She seriously never fussed for a second.

This session was so fun for me! I'm not sure who laughed the most...
but we all had a great time. Uncle Derek was a great assistant at getting
the love bug to look towards the camera and provided endless laughter as he
ran back and forth behind me in the grass playing peek-a-boo with his niece.

Reason 847 why I love what I do: I love watching adults behave like complete fools
doing whatever it takes to make the kids laugh. I love knowing that they love their
little ones so much they will do anything to make them happy. That makes me happy.

Country Couple / Kansas City Family Photography

This cute couple comes to me as a referral from a friend and co-worker...
They are his adorable parents, who've been married for over 20 years.

They haven't had a photo session in decades, and it was my pleasure to spend
a beautiful fall morning with them at Loose Park in Kansas City. Although I'm sure
he would've rather been mowing their 5 acres in small town Kansas while sipping on
a cold can of something hops-ish, he obliged his wife's desire to capture their moment in time.
What a guy! He even made eye contact with the lens a time or two ;)

Despite fighting marathon traffic to get to one another, we had a nice time
chatting about how they met, and what they like to do. Laid back in love couples
like this are really an inspiration to me, and I hope to have soaked up some of
their wisdom in the process.

It is my first time pointing my camera at this adorable family.
We were supposed to get together last year when she was 1, but things came
up and it never happened. I was so pleased to spend my morning with this cutie pie.

This is a first for me in another way. I also got to meet the mom's siblings.
We did a sibling session as a surprise to their mom/grandma for Christmas.

As with most men, they don't like standing still and smiling at the camera,
let alone making eye contact with the lens... but I think I managed to get a few
that Santa will be happy to leave under the Christmas tree!

This senior is beautiful from the inside out. She is laid back,
but knows who she is and what she wants. She reminds me a little of me at this age...
FUN being the #1 priority!

She didn't mind climbing on the rusty rails, or crumbled concrete. In fact she giggled a lot, which in contagious. She is my favorite type of client, and we had a lot of fun shooting in the Crossroads district downtown.

Mom adores her, and is obviously proud of the gorgeous girl she's grown to be!

I've had the joy of photographing this beauty since she was still in her
Mama's tummy. I got to get my baby-fever hands on her in her first weeks of life,
and it's hard to believe at 9 months she's already walking!

Her Daddy came along to the session just to be her personal comedian. What a lucky

This little guy is totally adorable and full of energy, as every 2 year old little boy should be!
It's amazing to me how much personality develops between 18 mo and 2 years.

Of course that also means they move faster and want to me in control!

Our first session was when he was only 6 months old. One thing hasn't changed...
those big brown eyes!

After rescheduling several times, I was afraid this session may not happen.
I'm so glad it finally did. I'm pleased to capture this time in their lives.
They are expecting a new addition in November, and then saying good-bye in
January as their only son joins the U.S. Army and goes to serve our country.

This is one of the fasted sessions I've had lately... as you can see, they are all
old enough to listen and follow directions. Not a norm with my usual toddler clients.

But don't be fooled, we had our share of silliness... mostly from Dad :)

Sweet Baby Amelia Kay, 8 days young

This sweet 6 pounder 12 ounce baby girl tried to stay in on the action,
but it didn't take long for her to fall fast asleep under my spell.

I'm proud to share a first... my first 10 pounder.

Not just 10 pounds, but born 10 pounds 10 ounces, this
big boy is the biggest newborn I've photographed.
Not to be surprised, though. Mommy is 6 feet tall, and Daddy plays
professional football.

He has the smoothest, creamiest, most perfect skin of any newborn
I've seen. And although he didn't want to sleep much, he was sweet
enough to not fuss much and put up with me and playing a little dress-up.

This darling little girl has the most amazing blue eyes, and

Welcome to the world, little dude. We've been waiting a LONG time for you!

This little fella is the newest addition to our neighbors, and dear friends.
We live on a wonderful block with lots of kiddos smack in the middle of the city.
Our oldest girls (ages 3 and 4) are BFFs, and our youngest girls seem well
on their way too(ages 18 months and 16 months.)
With a house full of girls and dads hard at work, we managed to make getting
a few shots of this 10 day old a priority... and I'm so glad we did!

This little bloom is 6 months young and so stinking cute!

I've had the pleasure of photographing this family since baby girl
was still in mommy's belly, and the honor of taking her newborn and 3 month
pictures. It's such a joy when Daddy comes along and shares the love.
Being a daddy's girl myself, this photo is my favorite from the session.

Seriously... adorable!

Her little expressions were too cute. When she giggles, she closes her eyes.

I'm so excited! this is the first time my photos have been

I photographed adorable Noah at 6 and 9 months, and was honored
when his mom asked me to shoot on location during his 1st b-day party.

I don't share many personal pictures here, but since it's her b-day...
I can't help myself!

Upon her request, I attempted to make her a blue princess castle cake...
My first attempt at anything other than a sheet cake, and I'm pretty proud
of how it turned out. A little sloppy, but it was fun and worth all the effort
when Mallory freaked out with excitement when she saw it.
She said it was "gorgeous!" Success.

Newborn Baby Boy

This family was so fun at their maternity shoot,
I was thrilled to work with them again.

The little guy was the biggest "newborn" I've photographed.
At 4 weeks old, he was over 9 pounds, and not as flexible as he once was.
He also wasn't much into sleeping. Oh yes, he was tired, don't be fooled...
once he was asleep, he didn't care much for me posing him.

Once I mentioned this shot, mom really wanted it.
We worked hard to get him here asleep and
I only got a few clicks before he woke up again.

But just look at those adorable little lips! It was worth all the effort.

This couple is so adorable... you'd never know Mom-to-be doesn't like
having her picture taken... and Dad was up all night working before our shoot.

They were even up for a walk to the park despite the Braxton Hicks.

The clouds were quickly moving in and the sky was turning gray on my drive
to this session. I almost called mom to reschedule for the 3rd time.
Apparently Mother Nature wasn't reading our text messages...
I'm so glad I didn't! The rain held out, the sun peeked through and I had
